I had just come back to India after spending good six years in the land down under, flew right into the tragic second wave of covid that the country was gripped in.

I needed a change and something where I could put my mind and energy into, to get away from the distressing news all around us.

This is where I chance upon a role of a Sr. UX Designer in a heavily funded startup backed by industry stalwarts called Myy Sports.

The founders had one goal, i.e to democratise the sports ecosystem in India. I was about to dive into the mad house where there is no definition of night and day or weekends 😁, and the only thing that would matter for the next six months is innovation, constructive debates between product and business stakeholders , design and lots of iterations, all packed into “convenient design sprints”.

We started with information architecture which included features already identified by Product and business stakeholders.

Each feature on the list was specced up by sub features.

Research

We had a specialised team of UX Researchers who were employing extensive UX research methods to gain.

This includes sending out initial survey forms, to speaking with users who were on competitor apps and understanding their pain points.

Design Process

Our Information architecture would then be translated into User flows that would map out potential user journeys.

Next came paper prototyping to get a rough look and feel of the flow itself as well as what components need to be designed for wireframes.

Paper sketches for one of the features

We had created a design system for our wireframes called “Bails”, and were constantly updating the same with newer components to its library.

A snippet of our Lo Fidelity Wireframes

Once a feature has been translated into a low fidelity wireframe, the version would be frozen followed by a presentation to stakeholders which included business and product.

Feedback from the presentation would lead to another version of the wireframes of a particular feature.

Hi Fidelity Prototypes

The final version of the wireframes would then be translated into a High Fidelity screens. We had a design system in place for the same, but also constantly updated it with new components that were being identified with the evolution of the product.

Below is some of the examples of screens I designed on Figma

Happy to delve deeper in the design systems, components, tools employed and collaboration with the Developers further.

User testing

We would go ahead to continue with our user testing, in the span of two months we have tested the beta apk with more than 300 live cricket matches, and have been constantly iterating our design keeping in line with the business requirements.
